Enjoy these sweet sandwiches as a snack, lunch, or dessert.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 8 (3/4-inch-thick) japanese milk bread slices or white bread slices, divided
- 12 small fresh strawberries, hulled
Instruction
- Combine cream, sugar, and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat by hand or with an electric mixer until medium-stiff peaks form, 1 to 2 minutes. Spread about 1/3 cup whipped cream in an even layer on each of 4 bread slices. Arrange 3 strawberries in a diagonal line over each whipped cream–covered bread slice. Top strawberries with remaining whipped cream (about 1/3 cup per bread slice), and spread to create a flat surface. Top with remaining 4 bread slices, and press gently.
- Wrap each sandwich tightly in plastic wrap. Refrigerate until filling feels firm, about 2 hours. To serve, unwrap sandwiches; using a serrated knife, cut off and discard crusts. Slice each sandwich in half diagonally (cutting strawberries in half lengthwise).
