Family Banana Nut Bread Recipe

This is my family’s cherished banana bread recipe, lovingly handed down from my dad. It’s a timeless classic, moist and flavorful, with just the right balance of sweetness from bananas and crunch from walnuts.

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs, well-beaten
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Instruction

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Beat together cream cheese, sugar, butter, eggs, and bananas in a large bowl until very smooth. Stir in flour, baking powder, baking soda, and walnuts until just combined. Pour the batter into prepared loaf pan.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to cool completely on a wire rack.
